OvaGene Oncology

Molecular Innovation for Gynecologic Cancers

OvaGene 's Products and Services

OvaGene Oncology has a rich pipeline of innovative diagnostic assays in development for gynecologic cancer assessment designed to assist gynecologic oncologists in the treatment and care of their patients.  Our first clinical testing products will provide critical information for endometrial, ovarian, and cervical cancer patients.

Endometrial Cancer Assays

Assessment for Risk of Recurrence in Early Stage Endometrial Cancer
Stage I and II endometrial cancers are typically cured with surgery or radiation, however it is known that approximately 20% of cases recur within three years of initial diagnosis even after standard treatment. OvaGene's endometrial risk assay can help the clinician identify which early stage women are at risk for recurrence and therefore fall within the 20% of patients who most likely will fail initial therapy.

OvaGene has validated and launched its proprietary patent-protected biomarker Stathmin (STMN-1) that has been supported in peer-reviewed literature as a strong prognostic indicator of disease-specific survival in early stage endometrial cancer. This biomarker analysis is critically important to help accurately stratify early stage endometrial cancer patients into a high risk of recurrence group or a low risk group. Recently published studies from over 1000 endometrial cancer patients from a large, international, prospective multicenter trial showed that high expression of the proprietary STMN-1 biomarker significantly correlated to aggressive carcinoma and a higher recurrence risk.

OvaGene also offers complementary biomarkers such as DNA mismatch repair gene protein expression (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2), ER, PR, Ki-67, p53 and custom panels upon physicians request.  Ordering these assays will be simple and convenient.  The assays require formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples to be sent to the OvaGene laboratory in Irvine, CA.  Results will be available within one week after our team of pathologists review the slides and finalize their comprehensive report.
